- is the single, authoritative source of current and planned roadworks and traffic disruption information for the travelling public, road users and professional stakeholders, including streetworks teams, traffic management officers, emergency services and the haulage industry
More than 6,000 new roadworks start in Britain every day. Elgin collects data from Local and National Highway Authorities and other streetworks systems and automatically publishes the information on roadworks.org. It is the only source of both national and local roadworks and road closures
The data is updated, from real-time to no longer than every 30 minutes and is widely syndicated through other websites and sat-nav services. roadworks.org has enabled the public to self-serve over 16 million enquiries on roadworks in the past 12 months.

Where does the data come from?
roadworks.org is the national roadworks database. 170 of the 175 Local Highway Authorities of England and Wales contribute data, along with the strategic Highways Agencies of England, Wales and Scotland and metropolitan transport authorities.
Our public sector partners contribute official roadworks information and often road closures and diversions, live incidents and other information relevant to road users.
roadworks.org is the only source to combine roadworks and traffic disruptions across the local and strategic road networks.
- Local Highway Authorities (see Data Coverage Matrix)
- Highways England
- Transport Scotland
- Traffic Wales
- Transport for London
- Network Rail
- Gas, water, electricity and telecomms utility companies
Providing a common map platform, roadworks.org underpins all of our operational tools – available in the roadworks.org Pro environment – which support professional users planning and coordinating roadworks, creating traffic management and signage plans and communicating information to the public.
