Transforming Traffic Management at Cheshire East
Cheshire East has won the North West CIHT Best Practice Project of the Year award for its implementation of the Elgin Traffic Management App.
The introduction of permit schemes in November 2014 brought with it an increase in the number of permits being processed by the Cheshire East Streetworks team and a need for higher quality information and better communication with the public. To support Cheshire East’s changing requirements the team began using Elgin’s Traffic Management App to transform the way they planned and instantly communicated information about road closures, diversion routes and other temporary traffic disruptions.

Cheshire East Council was rapidly able to take on board the Traffic Management App within its existing workflows and integrate the system into its own processes. Minimal training was required due to the intuitive design of the Traffic Management App interface and its flexibility in supporting different approaches across varying Local Authorities.
The success of the Traffic Management App in Cheshire East is entirely replicable across all Highway Authorities. roadworks.org and Traffic Management App now provide seamless coverage of potential disruptions to traffic arising from roadworks, traffic management and other incidents.
