roadworks.org (formerly www.elgin.gov.uk) is maintained and developed on behalf of participating Local Authority highways departments.
User Group meetings are held on a twice yearly basis in two regional locations under the Chairmanship of an independent Traffic Manager.
ELGIN is independent of, and has no relationship with, any of the principal streetworks and asset management software system vendors.
ELGIN is committed to the following:
- the continued provision of a free-to-view open portal for roadworks information
- support for the Government's Open Data objectives, which include the provision of data for commercial and non-commercial re-use.
ELGIN is an influential force in the wider dissemination of local transport information, and will develop value added services which create a sustainable platform for the open ELGIN Portal while reducing the cost burden for local authorities.
For central Government ELGIN has developed an innovative Governance structure to develop and maintain a completely national and open local roadworks portal.
