ELGIN is the trading name of Roadworks Information Limited, a new company established in 2011 to promote the open publication of roadworks information.
ELGIN harvests, aggregates and publishes roadworks data from the public registers of over 140 public bodies. We are dedicated to building a free-to-view national Roadworks Portal located at roadworks.org.
Our aim is to produce a national roadworks database paid for by the subscriptions of Highway Authorities in the absence of any central funding; and to recover our investment in this database on a transparent costs plus basis in line with the rules pertaining to publicly owned trading companies.
Uniquely for a private company, we operate under agreed Public Data Principles. Our Investors have submitted the company to Government regulatory oversight and aim to make their return through the further development of value added services.
We are committed to achieving better coordination of roadworks, and working together with all stakeholders to realise the vision of open, accessible, timely and accurate roadworks information.
